Meeting Christ in the Garden

Description
Meeting Christ in the Garden: A Devotional of Classic Writings on the Song of Songs.

Many years ago an elderly friend had spent most of his Christian life studying the Song of Solomon, and a friend from that time described this book by Tim Chester with just one word. Wonderful! So having that background and with that recommendation I bought a copy. I too can use the same word to describe this book. Wonderful! Tim Chester has done (from what I have read so far) a great job. This isn't just a recommendation. This is highly recommended!

Eventually I must do a review of this book in another place. Here is a paragraph from the Foreword by Michael reeves:

'As this book so beautifully shows, the Song of Songs is a holy of holies, taking us deep into the innermost reality of Christ's burning love and compassion for His people. By so doing, it inflames our love for Him, and stirs in us as we read it a heartfelt enjoyment of God. That is why you should read this wonder-filled collection of writings, and let them lead you deeper into the Song: they will make you yearn for more fellowship with such a lovely Saviour (p.9).'

From the Introduction by Tim Chester
'More or less every verse of the Song is covered to provide a good introduction to the Song. And included are contributions from commentaries/reflections from the fourth to the nineteenth centuries to give readers a good feel for how Christians traditionally read the Song. But my main aim has been to provide a collection of devotional treasures that point us to the love of Christ. My goal is that we might draw near to God through the Song (p.12).'
